Having recorded with Maestro Slatkin with a concerto by Leroy Anderson, no mean feat, as it was a new work for the Maestro, I can attest to his extraordinary abilities to be focused and overtly musical in rehearsal and recording. Simply, he nailed it--the style, the tempi, the musical inflections. If I were a member of the Detroit Symphony, I would be elated to have Maestro Slatkin as my mentor, leader and maestro.
